|

First Test, Brisbane, day five: Australia 602-9 dec &
202-1 dec beat England 157 & 370 by 277 runs
Australia seized the initiative in the Ashes series with a 277-run win over England in the first Test at Brisbane.
They needed just 20.1 overs to finish things off on the final day after England resumed on 293-5.
Kevin Pietersen failed to add to his overnight score of 92 as he chipped Brett Lee straight to mid-wicket.
Glenn McGrath then bowled Geraint Jones off the inside edge for 33 before Stuart Clark cleaned up the tail to finish with figures of 4-72. |

it was always on the cards straight from the beginning,
lets hope they start the next test as they finished this one.
then they might have a chance.
and please for the love of god play monty.
also if harmi is still fucking around then give mahmood a chnce. he can bat as well so that would help. |

Did Mahmood travel out with the team ? is he in the squad ?
Yes play Monty and KP and Freddy should learn to calm down a bit with the bat and not ry and lamp every shot out of the ground |

| Mahmood is there, ready and available but I get the impression they will give Harmison at least one more try. Anderson and Hoggard were hardly effective in the last test either. In fact the only bowler that was effective is Flintoff so I would bring in both Mahmood and Monty. I note that the Aussies have left Macgill out of the squad for the next test which is a bit of a surprise. Maybe they know something about the pitch we don't. Giles could well be for the chop as well then. One thing the last test proved was that we definitely need to play our best bowlers regardless of how they bat otherwise we'll never get the bastards out. |

Freddy and KP need to learn then, Australias middle order dont do it and that could be why they score so many runs and win so many games.
There are times to defend and not give away your wicket cheeply, its a test not 20-20 or 1 day !
Is good to watch though. |

| exactly, thats why peitersen doesnt open, but at 20 20 he does, thats just the way he plays. if you changed him he wouldnt be the same player.you cant teach an old dog new tricks. |

| Pieterson had learnt a new trick or at least it seemed so in the first innings. All through that innings he avoided playing the sweep to balls coming from the leg side. So why did he play it the very first ball in the second innings? I think Pieterson will be very disappointed with himself that his playing of Warne regressed between innings and that that is what got him out. It's unprofessional in my opinion. |

Pieterson is not that old and should be learning all the time, all good players do no matter what sport they are playing.
If we can all see he is that adventerous with the bat, why did Fletcher not put him out to bat 1st with one of the openers in the 2nd innings, and get him to have a go at the Ozzies from the start, 50 more runs would have done it. |

| When your only going to bat for half a day and you need runs, you put out a hitter with an opener. |

yeah i know, but its not flintoff who picks the team, he is only allowed to run things when on the pitch, but shit being captain in all.
its easy said afterwards though, just a shame it happens to often |
