From whufc.com

West Ham United have today announced the departure from the Club of Alan Pardew.

Alan has made an important contribution since joining as manager in September 2003 but this season's results have been disappointing and have left the Club in a very difficult position.

The Chairman, Mr Eggert Magnusson, and the Board have been concerned by the performances of recent weeks and feel that it is the right time to make a change in the best interests of the Club.

Mr Magnusson and the Board would like to place on the record their thanks to Alan Pardew for his hard work and commitment and to wish him well for the future.

The search for a successor is now underway in order that a new manager can be in place ahead of the January transfer window.

First Team Coach Kevin Keen will take temporary charge of team affairs until a new appointment has been made. No further statements on this matter will be made by the Club before that time.

I'm really disapointed with this. It's the players with their oversized egos playing with a lack of pride and pasion that's been our downfall. I hope Pardew gives a few of them a slap on the way out for letting down their club, manager, fans and themselves! :x

wow im so surprised about this. i thought pardew was doing a decent job at west ham, although he hasn't been getting the results. it isn't always the best solution to bring a new manager when a club isn't getting results. i think they should probably have waited til the end of the season and then judged him on his performance and final position.

exactly, its so easy to just use him as a scapegoat.
after everything he done for the club he at least deserved a bit of time.

i feel he was gonna go anyway cause of this takeover.

I concur with Jay and Dayoff, total shock comming in and hearing this on the news !

Players have let him down I think, what do the Hammers reckon ?

Pardew good young coach, he left Reading in a good way for Steve Coppel to inherit, and would have turned it round at West Ham, or is there something else going on ?

I think it's undoubtedly the players who have let him down. Their attitude lately stinks. It's like they believe the hype about them and couldn't give a monkeys if we go down because Chelsea or Man Utd ect will come in and offer them a nice fat pay check to warm the bench. Konch has already made it clear he wants to move which is discusting seeing how diabolical he's been all season. The least he could do is stay to try and dig us out of this mess that he is quite responsible for! :x
There was too much expectation put on Pardews shoulders this season too. If West Ham had only just survived relegation last season, which was more than a lot of people expected, there wouldn't have been this presure on Pardew.

youve hit the nail on the head there mate, too much expectation, same squad plus the two super signings that have done fuck all, i think all the players think they have to do is turn up and they will do what they done last year,

last year was done to pure hard work, dont get me wrong, they have got a couple of skillful and a couple of good players but that would not have got you where you finished.

this year there has been none of it so far,

i bet pardew feels so let sown by his players. istill cant beleive he wasnt given the time to get them going again, what do the board expect, a champions league place, come on for christ sakes its west ham, - no offence.

i hope you song his name loud and proud. let them know what a mistake they made.

i know it sounds bad but i hop they do really bad now hes gone just to proove what a remarkable job he has done, not relegated though - that would be a shame.
