Anyone watch it? Good to see Joe Calzaghe fighting in Cardiff, even if it was against a reality tv star who wasn't even fit to lick his boots! Enzo Maccarinelli had an easy defense of his title against a Canadian who used to do bare knuckle boxing while Amir Khan won another easy fight. Time for the lad to take a step up now, I think, I don't see what else he has to learn at this level of competition.

With regrads to the Calzaghe fight, I dont think it should have been stopped, he was not in trouble and a lot of those punches were slaps or missed, Manfredo was not going, he was just not hiting bacck and was weaving out of the last two attacks.

Calzaghe good fighter yes, bet when he should of been pressing for big fights he always took the easy fights that Frank Warren kept getting for him.
A points win over Chris Eubank who was finnished by then, happy to stay on defending the WBO title against the likes of Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall et al, The only tough fight he had was that last one against Sakio Bika which he was lucky to win. He did have a tremendous victory of Geoff Lacey but he never fought any of the other to fighters when they were in their prime or challenge the other title holders. He should be fighting Kessler next.

Maccarinelli why wont he fight David Haye ? Why has he too stayed fight ing and defending the WBU title and now the WBO ? why is he not fighting the IBF, WBC and WBA champs, did they find last nights opponant in a pub ?

Khan too will have to step up, Thaxton would be too much for him, Graham Earle might and there is also a young Lightweight from Manchester, current WBC junior title holder how says he'd be more than happy to fight Khan.

Is it just Frank Warren, he might be looking after his fighters but they are not fighting big names are they, this is the man who said he'd never work with Danny Williams after Williams pulled out of his 1st fight with Matt Skelton yet has has been working with him.

The entire night was a total joke in terms of competitive sport. Thank you Frank Warren for making a total mockery of boxing. I'm amazed he got 30,000 mugs to pay for that. It was inevitable from the start.

I can't believe i watched it... what a complete no event.

That American bloke was way out of his depth.

They'd just as well picked out a random bloke from the crowd.

He may have been out of his dpeth, but no way should that fight have been stopped, a lot of those punches were slaps and a lot missed.
Manfredo said afterwards those punches were not hurting and Bika said the same thing after his fight with Calzaghe, that the he is not a hard hitter.

According to the BBC Khan says he wants British Champion Thaxton, who he claims is running scared, as is Graham Earl and Commonwealth super featherweight champion Kevin Mitchell who Khan says has gone quiet. He dismisses Manchesters John Murray, the WBC Youth champion and 2006 British boxing writers' young fighter of the year. Murray also challenged Khan last week, but Khan shrugged off the 22-year-old's claims.

"I've sparred with Murray and played around with him and he's not even on my level," said Khan.

Mind you this is from the BBC who still claim that Sugar Ray Leonard was in Peter Manfredo's corner for his fight, when he was clealy in the crowd watching the fight.

Khan has done nothing yet in the professional game if I were him I'd keep my mouth shut until I had. As for the likes of Thaxton et al running scared I doubt it very much. I'm beginning to hope that Khan gets put on his arse soon the cheeky, cocky little shit.

Graham Earl is calling him out now, saying he'll put up his WBU title as well, saying its the only title Khan is sanctioned to fight for as he is very low in the rankings.

Maybe Khan is fed up of being held back by Frank "Ginger Spiv" Warren like Ricky Hatton was.

Intresting note, Earl is on Frank Warrens books or was.

Murray hasn't taken Khan's talk very well...

Quote: BBN: According to Khan he toyed with you in sparring?

JM: “Well he must have taken a few punches to the head already because he is losing it! We've never sparred amateur or pro. His mouth is as reckless as his driving so he wants to watch out. All he has done has got people coming up to me asking me to shut his mouth!”

He wants to fight him on the De la Hoya, Mayweather bill in Las Vegas when Murray has already been confirmed on the undercard. Won't happen but I'd imagine they'll meet after a lot more hot air and bullshit.

Thaxton wants him as well.

FROM BBC Norfolk

After 14 years as a professional, Thaxton believes he has too much experience for Khan.

"The kid has world class written all over him, but boxing's about timing," he said.

"It will be speed and youth against strength and experience, and in my opinion, I would go for strength and experience every time," he added.

Thaxton said he'd relish the chance to take on Khan, especially since his recent comments, which have given him extra drive in his training.

"It's making me mad, I thrive on it, remember Lee Meager saying he was going to put me in retirement?

"He hasn't been in the gym since," he said.

Thaxton thinks Khan may have under-estimated him, having made reference to his unsuccessful British light-welterweight title fight against Ricky Hatton in 2000.

Jono says things are very different now.

"That was seven years ago, I've changed a lot since then, I'm a lot better, a lot more experienced. If we ever fought I would relish it," he said.

"My one bit of advice to Amir Khan is be patient, be humble, and respect other fighters," he added.

Looks like Khan will be fight Willie Limond, link, which is definitely a step up for him. Although Limond was well beaten by Alex Arthur he is a least a player on the British/Commonwealth scene. I'd still anticipate an easyish victory for Khan but at least it wouldn't be a farce.

Wonder what Dave Stewart has to say about that, he's just beat Kpakpo Allotey on points 97-93 in a Commonwealth Lightweight title eliminator. He should be fighting Limond.

Khan should be telling Warren, get me Earl or Thaxton or Murphy.
