Bugger, damn and blast !
Durham 312-5 Innings Complete (S Chanderpaul 78, D M Benkenstein 61
no, K J Coetzer 61) v Hampshire 187 (J P Crawley 68)
Durham beat Hampshire by 125 runs
Durham took the five wickets they needed on Sunday to beat Hampshire in the Friends Provident Trophy final and claim their first silverware since turning professional.
After rain forced the match into a second day, Hampshire resumed on 158-5 in reply to Durham's 312-5 from their 50 overs.
But the England duo of Liam Plunkeet and Paul Collingwood took five wickets between them to clean up Shane Warne's side and earn a 125-run victory.
Durham needed just 38 minutes to do the damage as Hampshire added only 29 runs, collapsing to 187 all out.
The resumption was delayed by a further one hour and 45 minutes because of more rain on Sunday morning, but when play began Durham wasted little time in taking wickets. |
