From SKY SPORTS
Boxing greats Roy Jones Jnr and Felix Trinidad will get it on at Madison Square Garden on January 2008, it has been confirmed.
The Don King-promoted fight will see two future Hall of Famers from diverse weight classes slug it out at a catch weight of 170lb or less.
Twice retired Trinidad earned legendary status as long ago as 1993, when he claimed the IBF welterweight title at the age of 20, sweeping through the division before winning light-middle and middleweight straps.
However, since losing to Bernard Hopkins in 2001 'Tito' has fought just three times, most recently when losing to Winky Wright in May 2005.
Pound-for-pound
Jones was widely recognised as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet from 1993 to 2004, but the step up to heavyweight to take the WBA title from John Ruiz took its toll on the four-weight champion.
A trilogy with Antonio Tarver saw him lose the last two fights while he also suffered a stoppage loss to Glen Johnson.
With nothing left out there for the two legends of the ring, King has pushed the boat out to finally get the pair together for one last big payday |
