Disappointing. I though Macca would give it a real go. But I think Haye was in ominously good shape at the weigh in and it must have worried Macca and his team. He never looked confident in the fight and admitted afterwards he hadn't stuck to his gameplan. It was always going to be difficult against naturally a much bigger man though.
Well done Mr Haye, looks like when the "super team" of Enzo Calzaghe come up against a decent fighter, they are found wanting, they should ditch Frank Warren and his obsession of the WBO belts and get some decent opponants instead of the also rans he usually lines up for them.
Bragging they they are as good or better than the legendary Kronk Gym under Manny Steward. Look at the fights the Kronk Gyms boxers had compared to the Newbridge stable, no contest.
Same thing would happen to Gavin Rees if he ever fight Hatton and it would have happent to Calzaghe had he ever fought the top fighters at his weight when they were in there prime. Could you see Joe Calzaghe standing a chance against Jones Jnr, Toney or Hopkins eatrlier in there carears, no me neither
Never a doubt that Haye would finish him, I was looking at round 5 or 6 though, not round 2.
I do hope that Joe Calzaghe does beats Hopkins though, a real beating and a 12th round ko, mind you he'll have to punch and not slap.
